The internet is a great tool that allows educators numerous resources for their students. I think one profound tool is GoogleDocs. GoogleDocs allows students and teachers to discuss material from class. Students can use GoogleDocs as a means of asking each other questions and providing solutions to problems that other classmates may be having. Students can post questions and answers to other questions, and teachers are also able to add comments to students' posts. This can allow teachers to encourage students to explore beyond what they already know by using leading questions which allows students to investigate new ideas and develop new hypotheses about material. I really enjoy GoogleDocs because if a student is able to answer another students question, then they are able to show that they understand the content because they are able to use words to explain how they reached a solution.
There are also several other online resources for students. As a math teacher, it is nice to have the ability to give a student a website where they can find additional assistance when they get home. Some of these other websites are:
